Arnold Jacob Wolf was an American rabbi and professor of Jewish studies. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and was ordained as a rabbi in 1948. He served as a rabbi in several congregations in the United States and Canada, and was a professor of Jewish studies at the University of Chicago from 1965 to 1991. Wolf was a prominent figure in the Reform Jewish movement, and was a leader in the struggle for civil rights and social justice. He was a strong advocate for interfaith dialogue and was a vocal critic of Israeli policies towards Palestinians. Wolf was the author of several books, including The Bible and the Jews (1962), The American Jew (1966), and The Pursuit of Justice (1984). He was also a frequent contributor to newspapers and magazines, and was a frequent guest on television and radio programs. Wolf died on October 25, 2008, at the age of 84.
