Arun Sankosik was a Thai politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Thailand from 1975 to 1976. He was born in Sena district, Ayutthaya, and attended the University of Bangkok, where he earned a degree in law. He began his political career in the 1950s, serving as a member of the House of Representatives and later as a minister in the government of Prime Minister Sarit Thanarat. In 1975, he was appointed Prime Minister by King Bhumibol Adulyadej. During his tenure, he implemented a number of economic reforms and oversaw the country's transition to a more open economy. In 1976, he was forced to resign following a military coup. After leaving office, he served as Thailand's ambassador to the United States and later as the country's ambassador to the United Nations. He died in 2020 at the age of 98. Arun Sankosik was married to his wife, Chitra, and had two children. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing the piano. He was also a patron of the arts and was a collector of Thai antiques.
