Arvo Viitanen is a Finnish former cross-country skier who competed in the 1950s. He won a bronze medal in the 4 x 10 km relay at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. He also won a silver medal in the 4 x 10 km relay at the 1954 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun. Viitanen was born on 12 April 1924 in Kuopio, Finland. He was a member of the Kuopio Ski Club. Viitanen's best individual finish at the Olympics was a fourth place in the 50 km event at the 1952 Winter Olympics. He also competed in the 18 km event at the 1956 Winter Olympics, but did not finish. Viitanen retired from competitive skiing in 1957. He died on 8 April 2020 at the age of 95.
