Astrid Allwyn was an American actress who was active in the film industry from the late 1920s to the early 1940s. She was born on November 27, 1905 in South Manchester, Connecticut. She began her career in the theater, appearing in productions such as "The Cat and the Fiddle" and "The Cat and the Canary". Allwyn made her film debut in 1929 in the silent film "The Show of Shows". She went on to appear in over 30 films, including "The Cat Creeps" (1930), "The Cat and the Canary" (1939), and "The Great Dictator" (1940). She also appeared in several short films, including "The Cat's Paw" (1930) and "The Cat's Meow" (1931). Allwyn was married to actor and director Richard Thorpe from 1932 until his death in 1991.
