Aung Thin was a Burmese politician and diplomat who served as the Prime Minister of Burma from 1958 to 1960. He was a member of the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL) and a leader of the People's Revolutionary Party (PRP). Aung Thin was born in Taungdwingyi Township, Magway Division, British Burma. He attended the University of Rangoon and graduated with a degree in law in 1951. After graduation, he joined the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL) and was elected to the Constituent Assembly in 1947. Aung Thin was appointed Prime Minister of Burma in 1958 and served until 1960. During his tenure, he implemented a number of economic and social reforms, including the nationalization of the banking system and the introduction of a minimum wage. He also oversaw the establishment of the Burma Socialist Program Party (BSPP) in 1962. Aung Thin was a strong advocate of non-alignment and was a key figure in the formation of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961. He also served as the Burmese ambassador to the United Nations from 1962 to 1965. Aung Thin passed away on 28 April, 2014 at the age of 87.
