Badir Shoukri was an Egyptian politician and diplomat who served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1965 to 1967. He was born in Cairo, Egypt, on 20 August 1926. He studied law at Cairo University and graduated in 1949. Shoukri was a member of the National Unionist Party and was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1965. He was a strong advocate of Arab unity and was instrumental in the formation of the United Arab Republic in 1958. He also served as the Egyptian ambassador to the United Nations from 1967 to 1971. Shoukri was a vocal critic of Israel and the United States, and was a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause. He was also a strong advocate of non-alignment and was a key figure in the Non-Aligned Movement. Shoukri died on 28 April 2021 at the age of 97. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.
