Cahill was also on the Dublin team that defeated Laois to win the Leinster Senior Football Championship final in 2005 and again in 2006 against Offaly and again in 2007 against Laois.

He represented his county, Dublin, and his province, Leinster, during his inter-county playing career. Cahill announced his retirement from Dublin football in February 2013 and retired from St Brigid's in December 2016.
