Beatriz Paredes Rangel is a Mexican politician who served as the President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1997 to 2000. She was the first woman to hold the position. She was also the first female governor of the state of Tlaxcala, serving from 2004 to 2010. Born on August 18, 1953 in Mexico City, Beatriz Paredes Rangel is the daughter of a former governor of Tlaxcala, José Paredes Rangel. She studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and obtained a master's degree in public administration from the National School of Public Administration. Paredes Rangel began her political career in the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the 1970s. She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies in 1988 and served as the president of the Chamber from 1997 to 2000. In 2004, she was elected governor of Tlaxcala, becoming the first woman to hold the position. She served as governor until 2010. In 2012, Paredes Rangel was elected to the Senate, where she served until 2018. She is currently a member of the National Executive Committee of the PRI.
