Bernie Johnston is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of Parliament from 1988 to 2004. He was born on 15 September 1956 in Toronto, Canada. Johnston was educated at the University of Toronto, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. He then attended Osgoode Hall Law School, where he received a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1981. Johnston was first elected to the House of Commons in 1988, representing the riding of Northumberland—Durham. He was re-elected in 1993, 1997, and 2000. During his time in office, Johnston served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Human Resources Development, and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Industry. Johnston retired from politics in 2004 and returned to the practice of law. He is currently a partner at the law firm of Johnston & Associates in Cobourg, Ontario. Johnston is married to his wife, Mary, and they have two children. As of 2021, Bernie Johnston's net worth is estimated to be approximately $2 million.
