Bill Quenville is a Canadian former professional ice hockey coach and executive. He was the head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, St. Louis Blues, and Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He also served as the general manager of the Quebec Nordiques and the Blues. Quenville was born in Sudbury, Ontario, and played junior hockey for the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey Association. He was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round of the 1957 NHL Amateur Draft, but never played in the NHL. Quenville began his coaching career in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs in 1976. He was hired by the Colorado Rockies in 1979, and led the team to the playoffs in his first season. He was hired by the St. Louis Blues in 1983, and led the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1986. He was hired by the Chicago Blackhawks in 1988, and led the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1992. Quenville was hired by the Quebec Nordiques in 1994, and served as the team's general manager until 1995. He was hired by the Blues in 1996, and served as the team's general manager until 2003. He was hired by the Avalanche in 2005, and led the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2008. Quenville retired from coaching in 2012, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014. He currently serves as a senior advisor to the Avalanche.
