Bill Tosheff is an American jazz double bassist and composer. He is best known for his work with the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and for his collaborations with other jazz greats such as Art Pepper, Shelly Manne, and Bud Shank. Tosheff was born in Gary, Indiana, and began playing the double bass at the age of 14. He attended the University of North Texas, where he studied music and played in the school's jazz band. After graduating, he joined the Stan Kenton Orchestra in 1950, and remained with the band until 1954. Tosheff went on to play with a variety of jazz greats, including Art Pepper, Shelly Manne, Bud Shank, and others. He also composed and arranged music for the Stan Kenton Orchestra, and released several albums as a leader. Tosheff is now 85 years old. He has an estimated net worth of $1 million.
