He played in Major League Baseball as a catcher, first baseman and third baseman with the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, St. Louis Browns, Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates between 1931 and 1947.
