Bob Simmons is an American former professional skateboarder and entrepreneur. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to the sport of skateboarding in the 1970s and 1980s. Simmons was born in Temple, Texas, and grew up in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, California. He began skateboarding in the early 1970s, and quickly became one of the most influential skateboarders of the era. He was the first to perform a 360-degree spin on a skateboard, and was the first to perform a 540-degree spin. He was also the first to perform a 900-degree spin, which he did in 1979. Simmons was also a successful entrepreneur, founding the skateboard company Sims Skateboards in 1976. He also founded the skateboard magazine Skateboarder in 1975, and was the first to introduce the concept of professional skateboarding. Simmons is now retired from professional skateboarding, but still remains active in the skateboarding community. He is currently 70 years old.
