He is also a former member of the Georgia House of Representatives. Cook attended the University of Georgia, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1949. He then attended the University of Georgia School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor degree in 1952. Cook began his legal career as a prosecutor in the Georgia Attorney General's office. He then went into private practice, where he specialized in criminal defense. He has represented some of the most notorious criminals in the United States, including Wayne Williams, the Atlanta Child Murderer, and James Earl Ray, the assassin of Martin Luther King Jr. Cook has also been involved in politics, having served as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives from 1967 to 1971. Cook has been married twice. He has two children from his first marriage and two stepchildren from his second marriage. Cook has an estimated net worth of $2 million.
