She began her career in the 1950s, appearing in television shows such as The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In 1982, Bartlett won an Emmy Award for her role as Ellen Craig on the television series St. Elsewhere. She also appeared in the television series Little House on the Prairie, for which she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. Bartlett has been married to actor William Daniels since 1951.
