Boomer Grigsby is a former American football fullback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins. He was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Illinois State. Grigsby was born on November 15, 1981 in Canton, Illinois. He attended Canton High School, where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track. He was a two-time All-Conference selection in football and was named to the All-State team as a senior. Grigsby attended Illinois State University, where he played college football for the Redbirds from 2001 to 2004. He was a three-time All-Gateway Conference selection and was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. Grigsby was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played for the Chiefs from 2005 to 2008. He was released by the Chiefs in 2009 and signed with the Miami Dolphins. He was released by the Dolphins in 2010 and did not play in the NFL again. Grigsby is currently the head coach of the football team at Canton High School. He is also the founder of the Boomer Grigsby Foundation, which provides scholarships to high school students in his hometown of Canton.
