Boudjemaâ El Ankis is an Algerian musician and composer. He is best known for his work in the genres of chaabi, rai, and folk music. He has released several albums, including "Boudjemaâ El Ankis" (1962), "Chaâbi" (1966), and "Rai" (1970). He has also composed music for films, including "The Battle of Algiers" (1966). Born in 1927 in Algeria, Boudjemaâ El Ankis began playing music at a young age. He studied music at the Conservatoire de Musique in Algiers, and later moved to Paris to further his studies. He returned to Algeria in the 1950s and began performing in clubs and on radio programs. He released his first album in 1962, and has since released several more. Boudjemaâ El Ankis has been honored with numerous awards, including the National Order of Merit in Algeria in 2002. He has also been inducted into the Algerian Music Hall of Fame. He continues to perform and compose music, and is considered one of the most influential musicians in Algeria.
