Bonsall was born in Torrance, California, on December 3, 1981. He began his acting career at the age of three, appearing in commercials and television shows. He made his feature film debut in the 1989 film, The Wrong Guys.
Bonsall is also a musician, playing guitar and singing in the punk rock band Late Bloomer. He has released two albums with the band, and has toured extensively in the United States and Europe.
