He attended the University of Houston and studied music theory and composition. After college, he joined ZZ Top in 1979 and has been a member ever since. Edge has released several solo albums, including "Butch Edge" (1985), "Edge of the World" (1987), and "Edge of the Sun" (1989). He has also collaborated with other artists, including Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Johnny Cash. Edge has been married twice and has two children. He currently resides in Houston, Texas.
