He is best known for his roles in the films The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013), and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014). McIntyre was born on 3 June 1981 in Christchurch, New Zealand. He attended the University of Canterbury, where he studied film and television. After graduating, he worked as a production assistant on the television series The Tribe (1999-2003). McIntyre made his feature film debut in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012), playing the role of a dwarf. He went on to appear in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014). In addition to his acting career, McIntyre has also written and directed several short films, including The Last of the Light (2013) and The Last of the Light: Part II (2014).
