Daughter Amanda Foreman is one of two children born to Foreman and his second wife Estelle in the U.K.. Amanda is the author of "Georgianna: Duchess of Devonshire", a best-selling biography of an ancestor of Princess Diana, which was adapted into the Oscar-winning The Duchess (2008). Her second book is 2011's epic non-fiction study, "A World on Fire: Britain's Crucial Role in the American Civil War".
Carl Foreman was also an uncle to Los Angeles radio sportscaster/reporter and voice-over artist (1986 film 'Touch and Go') Ted Sobel who's mother was Sherry (Foreman) Sobel (Carl's only sister), a one-time big band singer for Freddy Martin and Frankie Ortega and his orchestra under the name Shari Fare.

The script fell afoul of the Breen Office censors--supposedly because it sought to explain the motorcyclists' sense of frustration instead of just portraying them as crazed, violent outlaws--and was re-written, to Brando's bitter disappointment.

A brilliant writer who was a victim of the "Red Scare" era in the 1940s and was blacklisted in the film industry for his alleged Communist sympathies. Reinstated in October 1997 along with other blacklisted victims--a bit too late for him, as he died in 1984.
Attended the University of Illinois, Northwestern and John J. Marshall Law School. Dropped out of the latter and subsequently worked as journalist, press agent and carnival barker, as well as writing fiction and directing for the stage. First work in Hollywood, from 1938, as story analyst and film lab technician.
