Carlos Giménez is a Spanish artist and cartoonist. He is best known for his work in the comic book series Mortadelo y Filemón, which he has been drawing since 1964. He has also worked on other comic book series, such as El Capitán Trueno, and has illustrated several children's books. Giménez was born in Madrid, Spain, on 16 March 1941. He studied at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Madrid, and began his career as a cartoonist in 1964, when he was hired by the magazine TBO to draw Mortadelo y Filemón. He has since become one of the most popular cartoonists in Spain, and his work has been published in numerous magazines and newspapers. Giménez has won several awards for his work, including the National Comic Prize in 1985, the National Prize for Graphic Arts in 1988, and the National Prize for Illustration in 2000. He has also been awarded the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts by the Spanish government.
