He studied at the University of Buenos Aires, where he earned a degree in philosophy. After graduating, he began working as a journalist and editor for the magazine El Eternauta. Trillo's career in comics began in the late 1960s when he wrote for the magazine El Eternauta. He co-created the comic series El Eternauta with artist Francisco Solano Lopez in 1968.
