Timeline
The success sparked Cassie to expand their business into a formal production company and open DCF Studios in High Street, Thornbury (Melbourne) in 2014. DCF stands for Dingo Cross Films in honor of Cassie's beloved dog, an Australian Dingo cross German Shepherd known as Mr Berkeley.
In 2012 they were nominated for Best Foreign Short Film "Sweet Tooth" at the Long Island International Film Festival along with co-producer and actress Genevieve Brock.
From 2007 - 2014 Cassie worked at the Nine Network on various television programs and as Question Producer for the national game show Millionaire Hot Seat. She left working in television after opening DCF Studios to manage the company full time. The studios now employee a number of freelancers, offering studio hire and production services to many local artists and businesses, with a specialty in music and promotional videos. Under DCF Studios, Cassie has written and directed dozens of music videos, for both local and international acts including Bellusira, Stormtide, The Deadlips, Slikish, Matt Coburn and Adrian Thomas to name a few. Cassie is a black belt in a form of martial arts known as Yoshinkan Aikido and is a student of the famous Sensei Joe Thambu Shihan (8th Dan, Yoshinkan Aikido). At the dojo she met her husband, Paul van Stratum, originally from New Zealand.
Their first short film "The Last Outpost" screened at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival in 2006.
Cassie Dart is a writer, director, producer and digital editor. As a teenager, she studied drama at the Academy of Television and Victorian Youth Theatre. She has an Arts Degree from the University of Melbourne with majors in History and English Literature, and has won a number of awards from the Fellowship of Australian Writers. In 2005 Cassie met long-time business partner Paul Puccio, co-founding film production house FixedPoint Productions.
Adopted from the RSPCA by Cassie in 2002, Mr Berkeley remains the company's mascot and logo, starring in online promotional videos and films by the company.
