In 2005, at the Turkish rock music festival Rock 'n Coke, Ceza let out a profanity laden freestyle rap directed at the singer Kıraç, who had made comments about rap not being real music.
He was born on December 31, 1976 in Üsküdar, Istanbul, but he was registered on January 1, 1977 in his birth certification. He worked for 8 years as an electrician before he started rapping. He is married to producer RokaBeat (Elif Özçalkan). He is also a professional Assassin's Creed player he is in Top 100 on World ranking. He is the first and only Turkish singer who won a MTV Music Award in 2007. Again in 2007, he created his own clothing brand called Evin Delisi. In 2009, he received an invitation for Eurovision, to represent Turkey but did not accept it because he said that the voting system is unfair. In the October of 2013 together with rapper Fuat Ergin he was on custody for publishing a photo of drug known as magic mushroom on his social media account and his house was searched, but after the interrogation he was released and posed a victory sign at the exit. Ceza and Sagopa Kajmer used to be good friends before and they used make songs together but their friendship was broken and Sagopa Kajmer fired Ceza from his group Kuvvetmira and Ceza made a diss track to him and his wife Kolera called Mürekkep Doldurdum (2005), Sagopa Kajmer responded to him with his diss album Disstortion EP (5 December 2005) on his song Kır Kalbini Ver Elime.
However, Özçalkan's big breakthrough came in 2004. He was invited to one of the biggest rock festivals in Turkey, namely RockIstanbul, and was asked to perform on stage there. He was able to showcase his rap music in an environment that held the largest Turkish popular music acts.
In 1995, Özçalkan started a group called U.C.S, and performed with this group until about 1998. His group Nefret got signed under Hammer Music in 2000, and the album Meclis Ala - İstanbul was released. In 2001, Özçalkan proceeded to release the album Anahtar. The title track on this album that holds the same name as the album itself was the first one that came with a music video. The album was a great success, and Özçalkan got to give many concerts with it.
Bilgin Özçalkan (born 31 December 1976), also known by his stage name Ceza (pronounced je-ZAH, Turkish for 'punishment'), is a Turkish rapper and songwriter. His 2015 song "Suspus" has been compared to Eminem's anti-Trump freestyle rap "Storm".
