Charles Blackwell is a British composer, arranger, and producer who has worked in the music industry for over 50 years. He is best known for his work with the British rock band The Shadows, for whom he wrote and arranged many of their hits. He has also worked with a variety of other artists, including Cliff Richard, Petula Clark, and The Beatles. Born in London in 1940, Blackwell began his career as a jazz pianist and arranger. He soon moved into the pop music scene, working with a variety of artists. In 1959, he was hired by The Shadows to arrange and produce their music. He worked with the band for the next decade, writing and arranging many of their hits, including "Apache," "Wonderful Land," and "The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt." In the 1970s, Blackwell moved into production, working with a variety of artists, including Cliff Richard, Petula Clark, and The Beatles. He also produced a number of albums for the British rock band Status Quo. In the 1980s, Blackwell returned to arranging and producing for The Shadows, and he has continued to work with the band ever since.
