Charles E. Wicks is a professor emeritus of mathematics at the University of Oregon. He was born on July 9, 1925 in Oregon. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Oregon in 1948 and his master's degree in mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1950. He then went on to receive his doctorate in mathematics from the University of Oregon in 1954. Wicks has been a professor of mathematics at the University of Oregon since 1954. He has also served as the chair of the mathematics department from 1965 to 1971. He has published numerous papers in mathematics and has been a visiting professor at several universities, including the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Washington, and the University of Arizona. Wicks is a member of the American Mathematical Society and the Mathematical Association of America. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the University of Oregon's Distinguished Teaching Award in 1971 and the University of Oregon's Distinguished Service Award in 1985.
