Charles W. Thomas (psychologist) was an American psychologist and professor who specialized in the study of human behavior. He was born on April 24, 1926 in New York City. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1948 and his doctorate from the University of Chicago in 1952. Thomas was a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan from 1952 to 1965, and then at the University of California, Berkeley from 1965 to 1991. He was a pioneer in the field of behaviorism, and his research focused on the study of learning, motivation, and emotion. He was also a prolific author, having written or edited more than 20 books and over 200 articles. Thomas was a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was also a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. At the time of his death in 2011, Thomas was 85 years old. He was married to his wife, Mary, for over 50 years. They had two children, a son and a daughter. Thomas had an estimated net worth of $2 million at the time of his death.
