Christian Eggen is a Norwegian musician, composer, and conductor. He is best known for his work with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. He has also composed music for films, television, and theatre. Christian Eggen was born on 8 January 1957 in Drøbak, Norway. He studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, where he graduated in 1981. He then went on to study conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Christian Eggen has been the principal conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra since 1997. He has also been the principal conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic since 2002, and the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra since 2006. He has conducted orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic. Christian Eggen has composed music for films, television, and theatre. He has also written several books on music and conducting. Christian Eggen has won numerous awards, including the Norwegian Music Council's Music Prize in 2002, the Norwegian Music Critics' Prize in 2003, and the Norwegian Music Publishers' Prize in 2004.
