She was best known as the lead singer of the rock band Divinyls, which had a top 10 hit in the United States with their song "I Touch Myself". She was also an actress, appearing in films such as The Delinquents and Monkey Grip. Christina Amphlett was born on 25 October 1959 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. She was the daughter of June and Lewis Amphlett. She had two siblings, a brother and a sister. Christina Amphlett began her career as a singer in the early 1980s, when she formed the rock band Divinyls with Mark McEntee. The band released their debut album Desperate in 1983, and had a top 10 hit in the United States with their song "I Touch Myself" in 1991. The band released four more albums before disbanding in 1996. Christina Amphlett also had a successful acting career, appearing in films such as The Delinquents (1989) and Monkey Grip (1982). She also appeared in television shows such as The Flying Doctors and Home and Away. Christina Amphlett died on 21 April 2013, aged 53, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis and breast cancer. She was survived by her husband, Charley Drayton, and her two children. At the time of her death, Christina Amphlett had an estimated net worth of $3 million.
