Clifford Antone was an American blues club owner, music promoter, and record producer. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and grew up in Austin, Texas. He was the founder of the Austin blues club Antone's, which he opened in 1975. He was a major figure in the Austin music scene, and was instrumental in the careers of many blues and rock musicians, including Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, and Double Trouble. He was also a record producer, and released several albums on his own label, Antone's Records. Clifford Antone died on May 23, 2006, at the age of 56. He was survived by his wife, Susan Antone, and their two children. His legacy lives on in the Austin music scene, and his club, Antone's, continues to be a major venue for blues and rock music.
