Thomas began his career with Cardiff City in 1945, making his debut in a 3-2 win over Bristol City. He went on to make over 200 appearances for the club, scoring 24 goals. In 1952, he moved to Swansea City, where he made over 100 appearances and scored 11 goals. He then moved to Newport County in 1956, where he made over 100 appearances and scored 8 goals. Thomas retired from professional football in 1960, having made over 400 appearances in his career. Thomas was known for his strong tackling and his ability to read the game. He was also known for his leadership qualities, which saw him captain both Cardiff City and Swansea City. Thomas passed away on 28 April 2020, aged 83.
