D. Jeffrey Mims is an American painter born in 1954 in North Carolina. He is best known for his abstract expressionist paintings, which often feature bold colors and geometric shapes. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums throughout the United States and Europe. Mims received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1976. He then went on to earn his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia in 1979. Mims has been a professor of art at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 1982. He has also taught at the University of Georgia, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Virginia. Mims has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Painting in 1985 and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 1992. As of 2021, D.
