Dagfinn Aarskog is a Norwegian physician and geneticist. He is best known for his work on the Aarskog-Scott syndrome, a genetic disorder he discovered in 1970. He is also known for his research on the genetics of mental retardation, and for his work on the genetics of facial development. Aarskog was born in Ålesund, Norway, on 10 December 1928. He received his medical degree from the University of Oslo in 1954. He then went on to specialize in pediatrics and genetics, and in 1970 he discovered the Aarskog-Scott syndrome. Aarskog has been a professor of pediatrics and genetics at the University of Oslo since 1975. He has also served as the director of the Institute of Medical Genetics at the University of Oslo since 1978. Aarskog has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the Norwegian Medical Association's Gold Medal in 1984, the Norwegian Royal Medal of Merit in 1988, and the Norwegian King's Medal of Merit in 1996. He was also awarded the Order of St. Olav in 2000. As of 2021, Dagfinn Aarskog's net worth is estimated to be roughly $1 million.
