Danny Amis is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead guitarist and vocalist of the surf rock band Los Straitjackets. He has also worked as a session musician, producer, and sound engineer for a variety of artists, including The Cramps, The Fleshtones, and The Ventures. Amis was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1959. He began playing guitar at the age of 12, and by the time he was 15, he was playing in local bands. He attended the University of Memphis, where he studied music theory and composition. In the early 1980s, Amis moved to Los Angeles and began working as a session musician. He played on albums by The Cramps, The Fleshtones, and The Ventures, among others. In 1988, he formed Los Straitjackets with Eddie Angel and Pete Curry. The band has released several albums and toured extensively. In addition to his work with Los Straitjackets, Amis has produced and engineered albums for a variety of artists, including The Fleshtones, The Ventures, and The Cramps. He has also composed music for television and film, including the theme song for the television show “The Adventures of Pete & Pete”.
