Dave Barbour was an American guitarist, composer, and arranger who was active in the jazz and popular music scenes from the 1930s to the 1950s. He is best known for his work with the Andrews Sisters, for whom he wrote and arranged many of their hits. He also worked with other popular artists such as Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and Peggy Lee. Barbour was born in Flushing, New York, and began playing guitar at an early age. He studied music at the Juilliard School of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. He began his professional career in the 1930s, playing in various jazz bands. He eventually joined the staff of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) in New York, where he wrote and arranged music for radio programs. In the 1940s, Barbour began working with the Andrews Sisters, writing and arranging many of their hits, including "Rum and Coca-Cola" and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". He also wrote and arranged music for other popular artists, including Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and Peggy Lee. Barbour continued to work in the music industry until his death in 1965. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1970.
