Dave Lambert was an American jazz singer and songwriter. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and began his career as a vocalist in the 1930s. He was a member of the vocal group The Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, which was formed in 1957. He was also a member of the vocal group The Swingle Singers, which was formed in 1962. Lambert was a prolific composer and arranger, writing over 500 songs. He wrote the jazz standard "Cloudburst" and the popular Christmas song "The Christmas Song". He also wrote the theme song for the television show The Odd Couple. Lambert was nominated for two Grammy Awards, and won a Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance by a Group for his work with The Lambert, Hendricks & Ross. He was inducted into the Down Beat Jazz Hall of Fame in 1997. Lambert died on October 26, 1966, in New York City. He was 49 years old.
