Dave Murray is an English musician and actor best known as the lead guitarist of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden. He has been with the band since its inception in 1975 and is one of the longest-serving members. He has also released two solo albums, Dreamland (1998) and Dave Murray's Guitar Clinic (2003). Murray was born in Edmonton, London, England, on 23 December 1956. He began playing guitar at the age of 12, and was inspired by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jeff Beck. He joined Iron Maiden in 1975, and has been with the band ever since. Throughout his career, Murray has been known for his melodic and blues-influenced style of playing. He has also been praised for his ability to play complex solos and riffs. He has been featured on all of Iron Maiden's studio albums, and has co-written many of their songs.
