Dave Shaw was an Australian technical diver and former record holder. He was born on 20 July 1954 in Katanning, Australia. He was a member of the Australian Technical Diving Association and was a pioneer in the field of technical diving. He was a world record holder for the deepest dive on open circuit scuba, reaching a depth of 305 meters (1,000 feet). Shaw was an experienced diver and had been diving for over 30 years. He was an instructor and had trained many divers in the art of technical diving. He was also a member of the International Association of Nitrox and Technical Divers (IANTD). On the morning of 28 April 2005, Shaw was diving off the coast of Western Australia when he was killed in a diving incident. The exact cause of his death is unknown, but it is believed that he suffered a medical emergency while underwater. At the time of his death, Shaw was 51 years old. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter.
