Dave Taylor is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played for the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Washington Capitals in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on February 20, 1953 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Taylor played junior hockey with the Vancouver Nats of the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) and was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Kings in 1976 and went on to play for the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals. He retired from the NHL in 1994 after playing 1,111 games and scoring 431 goals and 549 assists for 980 points. Taylor was named the Kings' team captain in 1985 and was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 1988 for his leadership and humanitarian contributions. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1995. After his retirement from the NHL, Taylor served as the Kings' general manager from 1997 to 2006. He was also the team's president from 2006 to 2008. Taylor is currently the executive director of the NHL Alumni Association. He is married to his wife, Debbie, and has two children.
