He wrote and produced the show from 1972 to 1981, and was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series in 1975. Baughn has also written and produced for other television shows, including The Love Boat, The Fall Guy, and The A-Team. He has also written several books, including The Waltons: The Story of a Family and The Homecoming: A Christmas Story. Baughn is currently retired and living in California.
