David Tudor was an American composer and pianist. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 20, 1926. He studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and the Juilliard School of Music. He was a major figure in the development of post-World War II avant-garde music, and was a pioneer in the use of electronics in live performance. Tudor was a prolific composer, writing over 100 works for a variety of instruments and ensembles. He was also a noted interpreter of the works of John Cage, and was a frequent collaborator with Merce Cunningham. He was a member of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company from 1954 to 1964. Tudor was also a noted teacher, and was a professor at the University of California, San Diego from 1971 to 1991. He died in 1996 in New York City. Tudor's net worth is not publicly known.
