He then moved into acting, appearing in films such as The Blues Brothers, The Howling, and The Terminator. He also had a recurring role on the television series The A-Team, playing the character of "Big John". Benda has also worked as a production designer on films such as The Last Starfighter, The Karate Kid Part II, and The Goonies. He has also worked as a set decorator on films such as The Color Purple, The Money Pit, and The War of the Roses. Benda is married to actress and producer, Susan Benda. They have two children together.
