Derri Daugherty is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the Christian alternative rock band The Choir. He has also released several solo albums and collaborated with other artists. Daugherty was born in 1958 in Akron, Ohio. He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and formed his first band at the age of 15. He attended Kent State University and graduated with a degree in music education. In 1984, Daugherty formed The Choir with Steve Hindalong, Dan Michaels, and Tim Chandler. The band released their debut album, Circle Slide, in 1986. The album was a critical success and was followed by several more albums over the next decade. In addition to his work with The Choir, Daugherty has released several solo albums, including The Color of Dreams (1995), The Derri Daugherty Collection (1998), and The Best of Derri Daugherty (2003). He has also collaborated with other artists, including Michael Roe, Steve Taylor, and Phil Keaggy. Daugherty has been married to his wife, Lisa, since 1985. They have two children.
