Devineni Nehru is an Indian politician who is a member of the YSR Congress Party. He was born on 22 June 1954 in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of Devineni Rajasekhar and his wife, Devineni Rajyalakshmi. He completed his schooling from Vijayawada and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Andhra University. He began his political career in 1983 when he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly from Vijayawada East constituency. He was re-elected in 1989 and 1994. He was appointed as the Minister for Transport and Communications in the cabinet of N.T. Rama Rao in 1994. He was also the Minister for Water Resources in the cabinet of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy from 2004 to 2009. Devineni Nehru is married to Devineni Uma and has two sons, Devineni Avinash and Devineni Prasad. He is currently the Member of the Legislative Assembly from Vijayawada East constituency. He is also the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation.
