Dianne Fromholtz began playing tennis at the age of nine and was coached by her father. She won her first professional tournament at the age of 15. She went on to win the Australian Open in 1977 and 1978, and the French Open in 1978. She was ranked as high as number three in the world in singles and number one in doubles. In her career, Dianne Fromholtz won a total of 11 singles titles and 24 doubles titles. She was a member of the Australian Fed Cup team from 1975 to 1983 and was part of the team that won the Fed Cup in 1977. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2002.
