Dick Jones (Australian footballer) was a professional Australian rules footballer who played for the East Perth Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) from 1945 to 1956. He was a member of East Perth's premiership teams in 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1951. Jones was born in Goomalling, Western Australia, on 5 June 1926. He was the son of a farmer and attended Goomalling Primary School and Northam High School. Jones was a versatile player who could play in the forward line, back line or in the ruck. He was a strong mark and kick and was known for his courage and determination. He was a member of East Perth's premiership teams in 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950 and 1951. Jones was awarded the Simpson Medal for best on ground in the 1951 WAFL Grand Final. He was also awarded the Sandover Medal in 1952, becoming the first East Perth player to win the award. Jones retired from football in 1956 and went on to become a successful businessman. He was inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2004. He was a television and radio commentator in the SANFL during the 1970s and 1980s.

1957

In 1957 he was appointed captain-coach of West Torrens and guided them to a fourth-place finish that year. He retired as a player in 1958 but stayed on as coach and was then involved in controversy when he chose to delist aging club great Bob Hank.

1952

The next stage of his career was spent in South Australia, starting at Glenelg in 1952. He stopped playing football at the end of the year and concentrated on his police career, before returning briefly in 1956.
