Don Smiley is a President and CEO of Summerfest, the world's largest music festival. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin on 11 December, 1955. Smiley attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He then went on to earn a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago. Smiley began his career in the entertainment industry in 1979, when he joined the Chicago-based concert promotion company Jam Productions. He then moved to Los Angeles in 1984 to become the Vice President of Concerts and Special Events for the Nederlander Organization. In 1989, Smiley was appointed President and CEO of Summerfest, a position he still holds today. Under his leadership, Summerfest has grown to become the world's largest music festival, attracting over 800,000 visitors each year. In addition to his work at Summerfest, Smiley is also a board member of the Greater Milwaukee Committee, the Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts.
