Donnie Nickey is a former American football safety who played in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played college football at Ohio State. Nickey was born on April 25, 1980 in Plain City, Ohio. He attended Jonathan Alder High School in Plain City, where he was a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track. He was a two-time All-Ohio selection in football and was named the Ohio Division III Player of the Year as a senior. Nickey played college football at Ohio State University, where he was a three-year starter at safety. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and was named the team's defensive MVP as a senior. Nickey was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He played for the Titans for seven seasons, from 2003 to 2009. He was a key contributor on the Titans' defense, starting in all 16 games in 2004 and 2005. He was released by the Titans in 2010 and signed with the Denver Broncos, where he played for two seasons. He retired from the NFL in 2012. Nickey is currently the defensive backs coach at the University of Cincinnati. He is married to his wife, Sarah, and they have two children.
