Dossou Vignissy is a Beninese sprinter who was born on 15 June 1954. He is best known for his success in the 400m sprint, having won the gold medal at the African Championships in Athletics in 1979. He also competed in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, where he finished in fourth place in the 400m. Vignissy began his career in athletics in the late 1970s, competing in the 400m and 800m events. He won the gold medal in the 400m at the 1979 African Championships in Athletics, and also competed in the 800m, finishing in fourth place. He went on to compete in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, where he finished in fourth place in the 400m. Vignissy retired from competitive athletics in the early 1980s, but continued to be involved in the sport as a coach. He has coached several Beninese athletes, including his son, who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Vignissy is married and has three children. He currently lives in Cotonou, Benin.
